What is yoga?

Yoga means union, it unites mind, body and soul. Yoga classes involve breathing techniques and relaxation techniques as well as a series of postures. If you are new to the practice why not try one of our Yoga Foundations Workshops?

What to wear to class?

Comfortable clothing that does not restrict movement is advisable. Barefoot is advisable as feet can slip in some poses. Shoes should be removed before entering the studio.

What equipment do I need?

All equipment is provided. It is advisable but not essential to bring your own mat and towel.

Yoga studio etiquette

  • Arrive for classes at least 5 minutes early
  • Respect other people’s space and keep unnecessary noise and conversation to a minimum
  • Remove shoes before entering the studio
  • Do not stand on mats
  • Inform teacher of any injuries or illness
  • Relax quietly on your while you are waiting for class to begin
  • Respect your limitations and listen to your body during your practice
  • Spray and wipe mats at the end of the class
  • Replace all equipment used neatly in their place of belonging

What class do I begin with?

If you are new to yoga, we recommend you begin with one of the level 1 group classes or a private class

Do I need to book a class or can I just show up?

We recommend that you pre­book each individual class that you want to go to as some classes are busier than others and we cannot guarantee you will get a spot in your preferred class without a booking.

What is the cancellation policy?

In order to cancel a class, you must do so within 24 hours of the start time of your class. Credits will be returned to your account if you are a member or you will be refunded if you are a pay as you go client. If you cancel within 24 hours you will automatically lose your credit. Please do not ask for classes to be changed within the 24-hour cancellation window as refusal may offend. You can cancel by phone, email or through our online booking system.

Do memberships expire?

All memberships come with a two-month expiry from the first date of booking. Should you need to pause your membership for any reason please contact us in advance to arrange this. Extensions cannot be added to an expired membership. Memberships are non-refundable and non-transferable.

How do I know when I am ready to move to the next level class?

Take time at level 1 to get familiar with the foundations of the practice. They will ensure you stay safe in your practice. If you are unsure you are at the correct level speak to your teacher and they can advise you, otherwise book a private class where a full assessment can be performed.

How often should I practice?

Consistency is key to progressions. In order for you to see a difference, it is advisable to practice more than once a week. If you are a beginner try to make two classes a week and slowly build up from there. If you are more experienced speak to your teacher for advice on building a home practice.

I am not flexible, can I do yoga?

Yoga is for everybody. This is a great reason to start a practice. Have patience and listen to your body and you will seem improvements.

I have an injury, can I still attend class?

If you are injured please speak to your teacher prior to booking. Some injuries are not suitable for group classes and you may benefit more from a private class. If you are a current student and become injured, please inform your teacher prior to your class.

Can I attend classes if I am pregnant?

If you have a regular practice speak to your teacher about how you can modify your practice and the possibility of continuing your regular classes. If you are new to yoga the safest way to practice is with one of the pregnancy-specific classes once you are over your first trimester.
